The trestle pier (A frame) is a traditional and reliable pier design that can be relatively easily removed from the shore. If ice consistently damages a fixed pier on the beach during spring, then a trestle pier is a suitable alternative. Unlike a pontoon pier, which can sway in the water, the trestle pier remains stable on the surface at a fixed height.
A trestle pier is an effective option when the beach's bottom is harder than usual, preventing the posts from being driven into it. The pier's trestles provide stability and can be constructed to match the contour of the uneven bottom. In such instances, it is advisable to precisely label which trestle rack corresponds to each element and end.
