A traditional log pole jetty is the first image that springs to mind when thinking of a cabin jetty. This sturdy pier has long graced the lake and sea landscapes, serving as an excellent spot for fishing, fetching water, and swimming.
The traditional cottage pier is a fixed pier design constructed from durable planks, ensuring longevity. It must be suitable for docking rowing, motor, and sailing boats. For instance, rests can be installed at the pier's end and on the boat, allowing the boat to be secured widthwise at the end or to float using a buoy and rope without touching the pier. A rowing boat can also be moored from the bow and stern to the 'armpit' of the cottage pier, the junction between the pathway and the T-section at the end, allowing it to float freely with the ropes.
If the shore water is deep, a traditional cottage pier can be constructed as a pontoon pier. In case the ice causes damage to the pier at the cottage shore during spring, consider opting for a trestle pier that can be removed for winter or a pontoon pier.
