However, if ice compaction and movement occur in the spring, opting for a pontoon pier or a trestle pier might be necessary, as both can be easily lifted onto the shore for the winter.

The installation should be based on the highest water level. This consideration is unnecessary for a pontoon pier, as it automatically adjusts to the water level.
