In the Nortwood Piers collection, "big pier" can refer to either a large or a long pier. Additionally, piers can be custom-built according to the customer's specifications.
A large pier is ideal for enjoying the beach in ways other than swimming and boating. It provides ample space for a dining set, outdoor furniture, and sunbeds for sunbathing. A sufficiently large and sturdy plank pier is perfect for this purpose. Additionally, having a barbecue area on the sunny pier terrace is a delightful feature.
If the pier or jetty is primarily for swimming, it should be of an appropriate length for the beach. When determining the pier's length, consider the fluctuations in water level. Ideally, the jetty should extend far enough so that even in autumn, you can swim from its end, ensuring it isn't entirely on dry land when the water line recedes and the water level drops.
Displayed above is an example of a large pier, specifically the Northwood Piers 'Tahoe' model. The terrace-like feature of the large pier can also be enhanced with a double end. This allows the 'terrace area' to be positioned further from the shore, where the view over the lake is often more appealing than from the shoreline.
